Orissa India Problems
    #4190329 - 05/18/05 11:34 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

I have 4 brf cakes in my tub right now. The 1st two cakes pinned nicely but they will not grow past pins. They took forever to pin and forever to grow to tall pins. When they were in 1/2 pint jars it took 6 weeks for them to fully colonize... this is too frustrating. I believe my other 2 jars are doing the same because the pins grew fast but looks like growth has halted. I think I heard somewhere that this strain has trouble with cakes. Someone please help me out here. I got 2 fully colonized jars left unbirthed. Should I try casing? This is my first grow by the way.

Patience is a virtue that every cultivator should have. Just give it more time. Sometimes it takes up to 2 weeks for pins to come and start developing. Shit.. I've got a casing that's been in the fruiting chamber for 8 days now and is just starting to develop pins.

Just wait it out, you'll be glad you did.

The two cakes on the right have stayed like that for over a week. The two cakes on the left started pinning last weekend. I gave all the patience I have.

Lower your humidity for one... those mushies are fuzzy city!! Not bad.. but just an indication that RH (relative humidity) is too high

Hmm.. my estimated temp is probably around 80-84. I would still think that they would atleast mature at these parameters.

OK. problem found! temp is too high. lower it to 74-76F. See what happens is mycelium love momentum, once you get it to slow down and fruit you want it to continue fruiting. when you have a high temp like that the mycelium starts it's momentum right back up and starts "fuzzing"
P.S. nice pin set

No problem not found, only part of the problem, it also looks like your no getting enough air exchange, thats the more likely reason that your mushrooms are so small. I have had mushrooms grow at 80-85 without making themsmall, is it optimal no, but it shouldn't be causing problems that your having.

I should try horse poo, but it is too complicated in getting it. I hope if I do a casing I can atleast get mature fruits...
Even with high RH shouldnt they keep growing? These fruits have grown as far as they have in the picture and stayed like that for over a week. I dont think they are aborts because they are not dying.

It seems like horse poop has a great reputation around here, I would trust Roadkill, all you need is to do some reading and you'll figure it out.

“Oh, what a love it was, utterly free, unique, like nothing else on earth! Their thoughts were like other people's songs.

They loved each other, not driven by necessity, by the "blaze of passion" often falsely ascribed to love. They loved each other because everything around them willed it, the trees and the clouds and the sky over their heads and the earth under their feet. Perhaps their surrounding world, the strangers they met in the street, the wide expanses they saw on their walks, the rooms in which they lived or met, took more delight in their love than they themselves did.”

i also was gonna suggest poop. ive had good luck with taking unruly cakes and sending them thru the cheese grater, then using them to spawn. got the idea from hippie chick.

yeah those orissa's would definately love to be in some poo! They'll keep fruiting with too high humidity but they'll have that fuzzy shit all over the stems. They certainly won't give you optimum growth if the temperature is to high and definately if air exchanges are infrequent.
