hey! wondering what your favorite substrates are? thought it would make a good thread. mine is 1.5 cups brf, .5 cups flax seed, 4 cups vermiculite, and 2 cups water. although sometimes moisture content is too high any ideas?

i never measure out my substrait i do it all by eye. A bit of rye flower, some flax, some finch, some brf, a bit of gyspym, and what ever else i can find lying around, mixed with verm and water, until it gets perfect

i dont measure either. my last batch of jars i stuffed some thistle seed, whole brown rice, rye flour, finch seed, and i always add about a teaspoon of honey to each 1/2 pint jar (2 for a pint, duh!). i just mixed this stuff up in a bowl (almost all even amounts except the rye flour which i used less of) and put it in 2 1/2 pint jars, 2 pint jars, and 1 half pint that is taller and skinnier than normal 1/2 pint ones that my mom gave me. innoculated with a PR syringe that i made from a VERY healthy print that i got here from sporeworks, soooo many spores on it. if youd like, pm me and ill give you updates on my experimental substarte goes.

oh yeah. and i add water too. lol. add some till its pretty moist and put it in the microwave till its hot. then i keep adding water and stirring, then mic again. keep adding and 'cooking' till its mushy.. i mean moist... well till it looks right.

hey trippin rhino,
i don't think there mixing substrate, i think there making mud pies ! my guess is they probably won't see shroom # 1 with that stuff. How many times does he run it through the microwave ? Well imagine that !

Wole Rye Berries and alittle worm casting mixed in.
Wole Brown rice is nice too (less worm castings are able to add)
I usualy get more and biger mushies with the rye/casting
the brown rice/castings tend to be a bit small but flush a little faster. also seem to be a bit more potent.
I still like rye better, i love showing off the mosters.
