    #4188824 - 05/17/05 08:58 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Found these mushrooms in my area and was just curious if anyone is familiar with them and if the are edible or non-edible.

Welcome. They do not look edible or active, to tell you any more we need more info.

Quote:

II. Accurate mushroom descriptions

It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.

A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable.

Along with the pictures (if possible), please include the following:

a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)
b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)
c. Measurements of cap and stem.
d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)
e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)
f. Spore print color (very important!)
g. Color that the mushroom bruises
h. Scent of mushroom

if you found them on lawn then they look like paneolina foenisecci.
if in woods probably some naematoloma or psathyrella.
or something similar and simmilarily non active and inedible.
classic genaric LBM
but if you want to KNOW what they actually are then you must provide the information as provided above in previous post.

but i CAN tell you ther arent anything you want to be eating.

I found some huge specimens of panaeolina foenisecii one day that almost look identical to those. Larger foe's are rare but it does happen in a few patches each year.

I'de say that are pan foes.
