 why is it illegal..

I must be missing somethin, i smoke pot about once or twice a week, ive been smokin for a few months and whats the big deal why is it illegal? am i not smoking enough? i dont really understand the big thing against how its so bad. im perfectly fine when i smoke but why is alchohol legal when people cant walk straigt? please help me out im missing something here or is it just that.. no one knows why its illegal?

you can trace the beginnings of the negative stimatism associated with pot back in the jazz era. Black musicians were known pot smokers and the white folks at the time didn't want them having any fun. That's a really vague answer but a lot of it does in fact revolve around racism.

It was made illegal because hemp manufacture was evolving and becoming ever cheaper. This would put people with money out of business. It is illegal today because the war on drugs keeps police coffers fat. In short...
money and greed. what, you thought it was corrupting america or something?

You know... my friend and I had realized exactly why marijuana remains illegal. Once you realize it, you understand why it hasn't been re-legalized. But unfortunately... I forgot what the hell that reason was. And I'm not even joking. I'm kinda pissed I forgot, cause it makes such perfect sense... and we had figured it out on our own while we spent all of our free time getting stoned....maybe someday it'll come back to me.

ok so why is it illegal to smoke pot in your own home then go to bed or somethin, but its ok to get drunk of your ass at a bar or party, ive been way more fucked up from drinking then ever smokin weed, i must just not be smoking a lot but i seriously dont understand how drinkings legal when i get all fucked up n try n pick fights, but i cant even smoke a bowl in my house cause that illegal?

An older guy who has done a lot of drugs was saying that it's illegal because tje ganja make people think about things, which can lead them to resist the systems that are in place.
while alcohol just numbs and dumbs people. Makes them easy to herd in the long run.

because when it was first introduced to the US it was brought mainly by non-caucasians, then those against the establishment (hippies,yippies and the such) old farts became scared by this and figured that if they outlawed it they would go away, think again. propaganda and fear tactics helped public outcry to keep it illegal. slowly, very slowly people are begining to wake up...
the preceeding was loosely based on fact, quoting to insite flame war and or defamation of character will only result in furthering your stupidity...

at first it was a way to stop mexicans from coming into america. the government cant make money off it so why make it legal? if they did they would probably make it like cigs and put an even bigger tax on it, then add a crap load of chemicals like cigs too.
