Panaeolus Subbalteatus
    #4186312 - 05/17/05 01:51 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Just a quick question regarding temperature. The temps in Maine have been dropping into the 40Fs at night with the occasional mid 30, was wondering if this is still too cold for Pan Subbs or if they're resilient enough to withstand these temps. Thanks.

I have found many a frozen subbs, I think they would be able to handle it as long as temps didnt drop below freezing, or you may have to chew them for a bit longer.

Shroom popsicles!

It's still abit too early for any shrooms in maine, it's just now getting 45 degrees at night. When we get 60 degree, 70 degree warm, humid days, for a couple in a row, that's when you want to go out. Morels will be up here in about a week. LOok in a few weeks after morels.

IT's amazing to me how many fewer mushrooms get eaten by wild animals here. I find dead mushrooms all over the place!

I've been seeing the occasional mushroom in lawns here and there, so I figure it's getting to be the time. I do think it's still a bit early though.

Are you finding these pan subbs on the coast, in the mountains, down east? mid coast?

I've only found a few false morels at the 400-500ft above sealevel level. A few LBM's.

IF you have a good gazetteer, you'll be able to let me know your altitude, that'll help here, I have found in maine, quite a bit.

I havn't found any subbs thus far. Altitude here is 0-100ft or so.. got 6 or 7 places I'm going to be checking over the course of the next week of two, I'll give you a heads up if I come across anything.

3-5 dried grams of panaeolus subbalteatus is as potent as 3-5 dried grams of cu bes. One fresh ounce or more of Panaeolus subbalteatus is as potent as one fresh ounc eo f P. cubensis. So whatever you think you are pickingt as Pan subbs are probably not pan subbs.

10 day forecast says I'm gonna be getting rain straight through until May 30th... not sure what to think about that. Little concerned it'll drown most everything =\

How could you mistake a cube with a pan sub.  And if you did actually have subbs you would not be complaining because they are just as potent as cubes, and on top of that there are no wastes of fungi they all serve their purpose.

But I have seen some subbs popping up, I found a nice cluster of pins in one of my favorite spots this afternoon.  One more good rain and it's on
