    #4184454 - 05/16/05 10:07 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

i never thought this would be a problem but im kinda glad it is however, my cake is pretty one sided meaning one side is nicely filled with w/ boomers, and the other not so much. So my problem is on the good side they are starting to grow down into the perlite i covered the bottom of the container and upped my lighting but still it keeps growing downward, so should i just flip the cake onto the poopy side er what? heres a pic its not the best but u get the point

I wouldn't really worry about it if I were you. You could try slipping a clean piece of Al foil in between the mushroom and the perlite.

Your cake looks pretty damn good!

unless you see something wrong with shroom because it gets too close to or touches the perlite, i wouldn't worry about it.

there is nothing wring with it. even if it touches the perlite it will be fine. It willl eventually point upwards. It is being forced down like that because of the growth above it. Just let the lil buddies do their thing.

They look nice by the way =)

Yeah, it'll turn upwards whenever it starts to hit the perlite.

However, I would put a jar lid or foil under that cake.

Slink, I sugguest building a little rack for those puppies to sit on while in the fruiting chamber. Go to Home Depot and head to the concrete / wood section. They have rolls of metal 'chicken wire' type of stuff. The holes between wire are smaller than chicken wire so your cakes stay on there. It costs about 5$ and takes 15 minutes of your time to avoid all that crap. Plus you don't have to worry about washing out the jar tops you've set the cakes on, or use up any alum. foil.

Hope that helped, nice fungi by the way

Sam
