I'm thinking about going on a mushroom hunting trip maybe sometime this weekend. I've never went hunting even once, so I'd appreciate it if you guys would answer a few questions.
1) According to the FAQ, shrooms native to New Jersey are the Panaeolus subbalteatus and the Psilocybe graveolens. Unfortunately the guide does not specify what these grow on, or even if they're in season. Any help here?
2) Do the aforementioned strains have any poisonous look-alikes?
3) Are there any shrooms native to NJ that aren't included in the FAQ?
4) What sort of equipment should I bring with me? I know I will need a mycology book, but would a spore print be useful? Can I get a spore print at a botany store?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. When I return I will post my findings here and see if you guys can help me identify them. Thanks a bunch.
