Horse poop
    #4184499 - 05/17/05 12:27 AM (13 years, 6 months ago)

On my girlfriends propertie she has a pile of horse poop that has been their for 4 or 5 years. It is covered and has been since they got the house. I was wondering if I could use that? I know you want old poop but is that two long?

See how all of that is kind of like dirt??  The ONE clump I had in there is in my hand in that pic...

See all those dry turds?? That's what you want!!

So you want the turds because you're going to soak those turds and pasturize them for at least an hour.  If you throw dirt in a bag to pasturize.. what do you think is gonna happen?? It's going to turn to slop.

The turds you want have straw in them also.  After 3-5 years... all that straw breaks down to dirt.  All in all.. you want the stuff that's not TOO fresh, but not TOO broken down.  It's out there.. and very easy to find.  If they have horses.. the stuff they shoveled out of there a few months ago should work great.

Since it is "covered"..... it might be still good..... if in fact nuggets & muffins are still intact. As by being covered, they may not have degraded to dirt like consistancy. I recovered some out of a barn - once. Where no horses had been for years & it was a go. Picture would help.

I would absolutely go for it. you want poop to be leached of ammonia anyway for best results. has it been stagnant all that time or is there fresh poop being added on a daily basis?

Horse poo is hard to come by, for us city folk anyway. Use the force

of poo.
