 Drying question

Hey there,
Is it O.K to cut up your mushrooms into smaller pieces before drying ?
It seems that this would make them dry faster since there would be more exposed area. I'm using a fan for 24 hrs and then damprid.
Just wondering if doing that would mess them up in any way potency wise.

it may affect potency since there is more contact between the alkaloids and the air.
