Tyvek and Pressuring Cooking (still use foil?)
    #4179232 - 05/15/05 05:16 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

So my grand-ma-ma is about to start pc'ing her substrate in preperation of inocculation later this week. She's decided to use Tyvek lids cut up from FedEx envelopes. She wonders if she still needs to use aluminum foil to cover the lids in the PC. She has plenty of foil laying around but she's never done this before and she just wants to get a answer so she'll know in the future.

Also... it's the first time she's ever used a pressure cooker, she's really hoping not to blow herself up. She's following this tek

hopefully everything will work out.

Yes, but remove the foil after the pc. If you leave the foil on during colonization, the tyvek can get damp, thus leading to bacterial contamination.

no self-respecting grandmother could have lived for 55+ years without ever using a pressure cooker!
