Copelandia cyanescens? ID help please
    #4179414 - 05/15/05 08:06 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

Well i found these growing straight out of a mess of cow poo. i only found three and did my best to keep them without being suspicious (i was with my parents) well anyways, the first picture is of a cap and a stem and the tiny bit of print that the cap left. i know pics of prints on foil is a nono but its all i could do at the time. the print is barely visible in the pic but it is black. picture two is of the same cap cut in half to show the gills. Picture three is of a dried specimen, notice the spore deposit ring on the stem. and picture four is the little guys before i picked them. copelandia is the closest i could find to ID these, what do you think? also if they are active, has anyone had any experiences with these or ever cultivated these?

No harm can come from questioning. "Best" case scenerio: You prove it right without relying on the fact that it is widely accepted. Argument strengthened. "Worst" case scenerio: You realize you might have been wrong. The new answer might or might not be what you want to hear, but it beats defending yourself with bullshit.

Most of the pans i've seen were whiter than that and bruise very very blue.

Copelandia cyanescens starts out a yellowish-brown and the hygrophanous reactions turn the mushroom to a pale to whie color, sometimes a yellow brown to white.

Fading in drying. Sop not all Copes are alwayts white as seen in this image.

I wish every amateur picker had that attitude when you told them no. Good shot.
