Happy Birthday Buddha!
    #4178615 - 05/15/05 04:13 PM (12 years, 16 days ago)

As of May 15, 2005, Buddha turned 2549. I bet he's celebrating quite nicely in eternal nirvanic bliss!

Apparently, the cake has difficulty containing its passions...

Quan-yin seems to be having fun in that picture as well.
Praise to the one gone beyond,
the enlightened noble one,
the transcendent destroyer,
on his birthday.

In Tibet Quan Yin is known as Green Tara. My Mom brought this Tanka back from Nepal, so now Green Tara resides in my bedroom.

I scanned that pic from Meditation Symbols in Eastern & Western Mysticism by Manly P Hall. The book is available from the Philosophical Research Society. Check out http://www.prs.org

Manly P Hall was one of the real heavy-hitters of the 20th Century. He isn't all that well-known, like John Gardener, Scott Cunningham or the Golden Dawn writers, but he really did his research, and was way ahead of the whole lot of popular Pagan & Occult writers in the West.

awesome picture, but what always confuses me is who the hell is Avalokiteshvara(chenresig)? if Quan-yin, is supposted to be (boddhisatva of compassion) the Chinese equivalent of Avalokiteshvara, then why now do you tell me that Tara is the tibetan equivalent of Quan-yin. ME confused!
