man your great you have answered pretty much all my questions. you are a great person i hope everyone realizes this. if you have the time could you answer a couple more questions for me?? my iguana has just cased with strait verm 2 days ago. using perlite humidty. i see a little(meaning about a quatersize) of the good stuff poking through. when should i start misting??. the humidty is 90%. and when should i expose to light??? there is prolly nothing i would be able to do to help you but i must offer. if you ever need anything please don't hesitate to ask.PUSCLE IS A GREAT PERSON

Uhoh.....I thought I was supposed to start misting as soon as I fixed my casing up. I've been airing and misting 1-2 times a day, but have no good white stuff yet. My cakes were a little used, though, already had a so-so flush off of them before I cased. Was the misting supposed to start after the mycellium poking through?

oscar- no need to mist if youre using perlite and 90% humidity. wait till you see a few more of those white patches and then give them some light, and 90% should be fine; i wouldnt go any higher than that with casing though, especially when pins start.

babyshroom- if youre not using perlite then i would suggest misting lightly. be careful tho, i personally have a tendancy to overmist and soak the substrate. thats just because im an idiot tho :).

Okay, then I think I'm okay for now. My casing is sealed itself, not in a terrarium yet. Waiting for some good white stuff before I put it on perlite...just don't have the room right now, since I'm overrun with cakes. Thanks!!

Thanks, guys! Cover up those first few little patches with some loose verm. Wait until the casing surface is about 1/3 covered with mycelia, then birth to terrarium. At that point it gets it's light and you can start misting it lightly once a day.
