Yes, you can use organic whole grain rye flour instead of brown rice flour. Your results should be excellent. You will, however, need to get a feel for how much water you need in the mix, as most of the popular teks assume that you are using brown rice flour, and different grains will absorb different amounts of water. Start with the standard proportions in the mix (2:1:1 vermiculite:grain flour:water) and see how that looks, then adjust water accordingly to find what works best for you.
If you do a GOOGLE search on "rye flour" in the forums, you will get an amazing number of hits, each saying basically what I said above.
Good luck!

But remember kids...just because there is endospores in rye/rye flour, that does not mean that you need a pressure cooker. I don't have one and have successfully prepared rye jars by boling them three times and letting them incubate for a day between the boilings (practical or partial sterilization...something like that)

Fractional sterilisation. I have tried it in the microwave without much success. It is very easy to make a big steaming pot from a beer keg. Cut the top off with a grinder and stick it on a hotplate or gas burner, use the cut top as the lid, you could fit a huge amount of jars in there which would offset the hassle of having to heat it 3 days in a row. For PF jars you only need to do it the once. Just make sure they are not all crammed or the heat transfer may be affected.

Hmmm, sounds like a novel idea. Im just not sure if i can pass up the 50 bucks deposit i payed when i bought the keg...
