a little help
    #4176719 - 05/15/05 01:54 AM (11 years, 6 months ago)

These were found on cow dung in Mississippi. The cap is mostly white with maybe a small tint of brownish(very small). The stem doesn't appear to be hollow, but they are extremely thin and its hard to tell for sure. The gills are a dark brown color, and the sporeprint is black. I'm hoping maybe some sort of active, but there was a very small amount of what appeared to be blueing. I know this is probably too vague and the pictures are terrible, but its the best I can do right now. This was pretty much my first find, so if this post is weak then I apologize in advance.

If those were Pan cyans the bluing would be obvious. It looks like you have some inactive Pans.

Thanks shroomydan. Yea I figured they were inactive. I have a question though, would pan cyans look similar and grow in the same habitat, but blue when picked? I can't seem to find information on this species. What is the full name?

It's the very first mushroom on the page. I also live in MS and haven't been out yet because I think it may be a lil early for cubes anyway up here. But you may live a lil further south than me good luck man.

Thanks alot guys. pinkfloyd, the first species on that link you sent me was copelandia cyanescens...is this the same as pan cyans? Just a little confused. Thanks to the other guys for the input though.

I'd say inactive. I find alot of little dung-lovers that look similar to your specimens.

Shroomydan, just out of plain curiosity, aren't you a Mod? your name is blue. sorry, that was kinda buggin me, its not the first time that someones name has changed colors on me.
