Ok, today I went out into our horse pasture to play with the horses a bit, and looked down and saw something growing that at first glance looked likea flower. I bent down and reallized it was a mushroom, and since it was right in/near horse shit, I wondered what it was. I picked it, and looked at it and instantly thought "panaeolus" but was unaware of the species as I had never seen anything that looked like it on the net before. This was an old mushroom is why, and was probably on its last day. Well this is what it looked like:
the gills were a dark brownish, sorta olive color. The stem and cap were white to a sort of light greyish color. The cap was split with age. The sporeprint was black, confirming my suspicions of it's panaeolusness. It did not bruise blue after sitting for about an hour. The cap was also a little flaky, hard to explain actually, and dry.
I know I should go look at mj's site before asking, but I dun wanna. I was just curious if this is enough information to be able to identify it (closely). Anyay, I was hoping when I picked it that it would be a psilycybin mushroom, so I would have hard evidence that they grow there so I can hunt and expect to find something.

Its impossible to say for sure without a picture. From what I've seen the past few weeks the subbs are done, so you probably have an inactive Panaeolus.

Im pretty damn certain it is inactive. I figured it was likely impossible to tell, but I was bored and posted anyway. Is there any poisonous species of pans?

There are no poisonous memebers of the Panaeolii family.
Some field guides may list some as poisonous, because of their Psilocbyin, Psilocin, Baeocystin and Norbaeocystin. Poisonings of this kind involve the central nervous system. We call it trippin'! hehe!
Stay cool!-Levi7.

Ok, just wanted to make sure that if I found an unknown species that I was certain was pan out in the field some day, I would be able to safely eat it. I didnt think there were any poisonous species. I dunno why I would want to eat a pan that wasnt magic, they taste like shit.
Oh, and from the time I picked it I didnt think it was psychoactive, and the lack of blueing made me almost positive. I wasn't looking for magic anyway so it makes no difference to me, thats just the first mushroom from either the psilocybe or panaeolus genus that I ave found out there. If we get some rain this week then this weekend should have more popping up I would say.
