inoculation
    #4170667 - 05/13/05 11:59 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

Hi,,
I inoculated my jars a week ago last Sunday with BHT strain. I put the needle all the way into the substrate and around the edges. Placed the jars in the incubator, the temp is about 78-80 degrees. Still there is nothing happening. At least I don't have any mold either. Does this strain take longer than a week for me to some progress?

Thanks for your help,

Look a little wet or dry? Often water content stalls germination..can take another week or more to germinate...but theres a problem somwhere if its more then 3-5 days IMO.

Raise the temps a little bit try to get it up to 85, you should be ok if you didnt get the substrate to wet. Remember moist, not wet.

Yea, what they said. But it would also help if you tell us all the steps you took when innoculating.

One other thing that was not mentioned is the temps of your jars and your needle when you inoculated. If either of them were not at room temperature, it could have killed the spores.

Good luck!

I say don't worry about man...it's all about patience.

I had a pf jar of Tazmanians showing growth 4 days after inoculation, and another showed growth after 1 and a half weeks!

Just give it time.

PS. You might wanna raise your temperatures to the ideal 84-86F range.

Good luck

I got full colonization of Hawk's Thai Koh Samui in 7 days and under by keeping my temps @ 86 degrees...

I raised the temp to 86 but now I am seeing a yellow/orange liquid in the bottom of the jars. I got these jars in a kit I got on EBAY. The person who sold it to me directed me to this site. I wish I knew about this site before I bought the kit. I still have 2 syringes left should I start over with fresh jars or reinoculate the ones I have going?

Thanks,

sounds like you might have a bacterial contam.

let the jars go for a few more days...and see what happens before tossing them.

---

in the mean time...since you have some extra spore syringes.

go pick up some new jars and supplies...and follow a tek...and make up some new jars.
