light or dark

How much light should you give to innoculated jars? The PF site says put them in natural light; Shoomery says put them in a dark place. Does it matter? Any help appreciated.
Thanx.

innoculated jars should be kept in the dark, so that the mycelium does not start pinning while it is colonising the substrate.

well, at first, they should be in the dark, for the above stated reason, but if your substrate is not contamned and if you have innoculated sufficiently, then it really doesn't matter.

Should they stay in the dark for the full 20-30 days before they are fully colonized, or do you bring them into the light before that? Thanx for the info.

Puss-De-E'tat, my neighbor's cat, routinely places the jars back into the box in which they were purchaced during early incubation. this is mostly for conveniance, as she has little other place for so many jars. after they are about 75% colonized, she moves them to a shelf where there is some light all day from very indirect sunlight. as soon as the jars are 100% then they start getting pins, she waits 3 to 5 more days and births.
