cooking desiccant ??

so i cooked some desiccant on a pizza pan and after i washed it it the whole thing turned to rust the dririte must have destoryed the pans protective coating. do you guys think there was a chemical reaction that changed the makeup of the dirite ?? all the color indacating part is turning to powder what kind of pan should i use would it be ok to use the rusted pan if i cover it in foil ??

Use the jars that the drierite came in....they will work fine.

Tricky.  Might a better solution have been to simply pour boiling water over it and let it dry in a 1 quart jar or something with some polyfill stuffed in somehow??  I just get new stuff after each time... it pays for itself :wink:

how would pouring water over dririte dehydrate it ? so your saying i can cook the dririte in the glass jar ? what about the lable

I have no idea dude. How about just going back out to the store and getting more dririte??? That might be more simple. I've also heard that fan drying them for a day, then laying them directly over some full grain rice in a container works well also.

I had the same thing happen to my pan. I just keep using the same pan it doesn't seem to get any worse. I have been using the same batch for a couple of years. So no don't go buy more just don't worry about the rust. Enjoy

alright thanks yeah its kinda a waste to go out and buy more when its still good just needs to be dryed out i dont think air drying would be very effective
