was this a flashback?
    #4166894 - 05/12/05 02:51 PM (18 years, 11 months ago)

Hi everyone, I've been lurking around the site for some time now and just joined it today. I've done shrooms three times in the past and found them utterly amazing. Yesturday this wierd thing happened to me though. I was lying in my bed, just relaxing before work, when all of a sudden a strange feeling overtook me. I felt sort of like I was half awake and half asleep. I couldn't move my limbs or blink my eyes, but it didn't feel uncomfortable at all. I could still look around my room, and everything looked mostly normal but I heard voices of my friends talking to me, saying, "Come on, Shmew!" and things of that nature. This was accompanyed by a confused state of thinking, as I really couldn't comprehend what was going on. Toward the end, the room turned purple, and then I suddenly snapped out of it. I'd say the whole thing lasted about 15-20 minutes. What was this??

That's some weird stuff dude. It could have been a flashback but I have only heard of flashbacks coming from acid. There is a disorder called advanced hallucinogen perceptual disorder ( I think that's what it's called ) I'm pretty sure this only occurs after prolonged use or several large doses. More information on AHPD is floating around this site somewhere. Peace  :headbang:

'Flashbacks' are the same thing as what vets from war can go through.

They happen from extremely traumatic experiences.

Probably just a semi-concious dream state.

I've found that I have always had wierd states of mind every now and then, its only after tripping a load of times that I can identify it as being trippy.

A semi-conscious dream state, huh?  Intriguing.  Come to think of it, I've had a couple of similar experiences in the past, but before it occurred while I was waking up from sleep.  I would have this feeling that my mind was awake but my body wasn't and I wouldn't be able to open my eyes or move my limbs.  It scared the fuck outta me at the time.  I guess that's why I didn't identify this experience with the others, cuz this one was actually kinda fun looking back on it.  Do you know any more about this?  I'd love to learn more about it.

Nothing I love quite as much as that state you occasionally reach several minutes before waking up in which you are sort of concious, but not yet awake nor are you aware of your body. Like you are dreaming and all of a sudden realize you are asleep. I love that, because then I am like fucking magic. I once stared down a hallway and then zoomed through it, you can fly, you can do anything as long as you tell yourself. Shit, it is like the fucking Matrix.

Cherish those times, they are wonderful. Make the most of them.

All I had to read was "I couldn't move my limbs." and I knew it was Sleep Paralysis. But alas, the people above me beat me to it.

That sounds like fun. Now that I know that there's nothing wrong, next time it happens I'll definately make the most of it. Thanks everyone for your input.

Is sleep paralysis those things where you're awake but can't move and it feels like someone's choking you? If it is, those scare the shit outta me. One time it happened, my mind was awake but I couldn't move, not even open my eyes and I kept hearng "Jugo" "Jugo" over and over which means "Die" in Korea. Needless to say I was scared shitless, it felt like I was choking and somehting really heavy was on top of me.
