Weight of CO2 and O2
    #416873 - 10/07/01 12:39 PM (21 years, 11 months ago)

Easy question. whats heavier? CO2 or O2?? im asking because im tryin to make a terrarium much like the hawk's. Im using a seethrough rubbermaid container with perlite layer on the bottom. My idea is to put a filterd airpump blowing fresh air in about 1 inch from the top of the box, and have a filtered exhaust hole in the bottom on the opposite side of box. IM thinking this should work because if CO2 weighs more, then it will be pushed out the bottom hole while fresh air fills the top.

If yur still reading, im wondering if it would be worthwhile to replace the filterd airpump with a pressurized O2 canister that releases a blast of pure oxygen 4 times a day. Is pure oxygen benefitial, or is regular air all that the shrooms can use?
thanks peace

CO2 is heavier. I see nothing to gain from using pure oxygen.

CO2 is heavier than air. cubensis mycelium does not require oxygen to survive. it does get choked off by CO2.
