fruiting chamber
    #4168264 - 05/12/05 10:23 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

so...I'm wondering If I could design a chamber that is controlled by a thermostat that measures bolth heat and humidity. If it need's heat, the thermostat grounds the heater and the heat turns on. If it need's humidity the thermostat ground's out the humidifier and turns it on. In addition I'd have some kind of fan blowing fresh air into the chamber.

It really depends on the size of the chamber like for a Martha the aquarium pump does not provide enough air exchange.

If you have the room - means to haul & move one. A dead upright freezer makes a KILLER incubator/fruiting chamber. They can be had for FREE, at most applioance repair places.

Easy to modify, heat, cool, provide fresh air exchange with a coolmist, maintain & clean.

wow agar...That is an AWSOME idea...Definatly something I'll keep in mind for the future.

I was pretty beat from work yesterday...What i meant to ask really was...Is there a thermostat type contraption out there that will measure humidity, and ground/unground based on whether humidity need's to be added/shut off?

Thx,
TheStudent

so..what I'm looking for now is a hygrometer that act's like a thermostat...If the humidity get's to low the hygrometer turn's on the humidifyer until optimal RH level is reached, then shut's off. Doe's such athing exist? Or is a timer the only option?

Thx,
TheStudent

Hi, here is a good humidity controller, and a temp controller.
  Green Air Products

Model THC-1
Total Humidity
Controller
Control humidity automatically and accurately with Green Air Products Total Humidity Controller. The THC can be switched between humidify and dehumidify for removing unwanted atmospheric moisture accumulating within an enclosed area or to add needed moisture to the air by means of humidification.
The THC-1 humidity switch controls humidity equipment by providing power when humidity varies from the adjustable set point. In the dehumidifying mode high humidity conditions will activate fans or other dehumidifying apparatus until level drops approximately 7% in relative humidity. At this point dehumidifying equipment is disabled until humidity increases again 7%.

In the humidifying mode this control operates fogging or other humidifying equipment by activating switches, motors, valves or pumps. Humidifiers can be precisely controlled according to atmospheric humidity to create ideal conditions for any environment. The 110V outlet receptacle receives power when atmospheric moisture content becomes less then your preset minimum allowable percentage.

Switches 120V at 15 amp maximum. Sensor allows a 7% (tolerance) comfort zone between "on" and "off" functions.

Here is the temp controller;

TempStat
Temperature
Heating / Cooling
Thermostat
Model Temp-H/C
Green Air Products
This temperature control may be easily switched to control either heating or cooling equipment with the flick of a switch. External coil hydraulic sensor provides accurate dependable switching with a 7 degree Fahrenheit tolerance factor. For more accurate temperature control, choose the 3 degree Fahrenheit tolerance factor model. Load capacity of 15 Amps at 110 Volts. Convenient six-foot, three-prong grounded male/female plug allows easy hook-up of exhaust fans, heaters or other temperature devices.

yeah it is a humidistat. nice bluhoney, they (green air) also have ones that are combined. works great for the marys room. a little pricey for this application but an awesome job they do.

dude for the price of that humidistat, i think you could have one that controls both temp and humidity, maybe not. got mine on a deal from the vendor, so check out green air to see how much theirs are.

yah the greenair one is about 130. I'm going to search around, I'm looking to spend around $100 for a thermostat/hydristat combo.

man..so her's what I have so far...

I need:
1.) Humidistat.(pre-wired)
2.) Thermistat(pre-wired)

so the humidistat is about 110, the thermostat 40-60. Now what if it get's to hot in there?(3rd floor closet or attic) will I need Another thermostat for a cooling device? That's over 200 buck's... If it is truely the best way to do this, and any other would be considered a "mickey Mouse" job, then I'll pay it. Do I have the rite idea here, and do you professor's think it's worth 220+ for atmospheric material's?

Many ThX,
TheStudent

dude are you talking about this?
http://officeware.ws/d/cleaning-amp-maintenance/air-purifiers-humidifiers/29/

it's 600 dollar's...lol. and there is no controller for humidistat/thermostat, or thermostat heat-cool. so the only option is to get three seperate one's. Which would cost over 300 if i got them from greenair.

bolth of those last 2 post's show good stats, however bolth humidistat's only go to 80%. That won't work for this application where i'm looking for 95-100% rite?
