San Pedro Powder is?
    #4164111 - 05/11/05 11:54 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

So I am in a quandery of what San Pedro Powder exactly is. Is this just the dried cactus that has been processed to a powder? That would explain the white color since the core of the cactus is primarily white. I don't understand what is going on because isn't the active region within the outer layer close to the spines?

If one was going to prepare a powder; how would one accomplish this?

it is more than likely dried cactus that has been ground into powder. A lot of the dried cactus while be light colored, while other parts will be greenish and even some red from bleeding after cutting according to afoaf

this powder from peru (400gm/$us29) was a very pale green, but after it soaked in isopropyl (99%) for a week or so, the liquid was an amazing dark green...
one wonders what will remain after the alcohol extract from 100 grams of powder is allowed to dry to a tar or goo...

just 'cause it's pale in the can don't mean that 15 grams wouldn't maybe kick yr butt from here to tuesday & back again, mmmmm?

You can order it from peru or straight up here in the us. It totally borders on the grey area of legal. Some would consider it preparation, yet you could just say it is incense like everything else is.

I was thinking of making a powder myself vs ordering a powder because it is relatively cheaper #1, and #2 is it far more legal.

All you have todo is order a 4 pound cactus, cut into slices, dry, then you grind the slices into a powder. I suppose removing the inner core of the cacti is optional. Everyone just goes straight to tea, but if you have a 5lb cacti and you don't want to take it all at once, i.e. make a tea then this powder would be excellent since it could be stored for later use.

Ps, importing from peru is like $30 for shipping just about.
