I'm trying to dry some Morels up, and slicing is not an option.  Since they are whole, there is quite a big gap between the trays.  I used duct tape to fix this for now.  Besides the initial duct tape smell, I don't see any problems with this.  What do you all do when stacking trays that won't connect together in a situation like this?  Thanks

Yummy! :mushroom2:

Hehe, indeed.  Morels are beautiful and extremely tasty.  And there's nothing like spending an evening on the forest floor harvesting a meal   Mushrooms rule.

I think i'd just let'em ride out Diver. Prolly tommorrow the trays will be touching again from them getting dehydrated. I would definately keep them puppies in one piece. Nice finds brotha!

Just curious why you are drying those out man? Gonna use em for soup or something?

I'd cook those bad boys up with some mushroom stuffed ravioli's in a nice red wine/cream sauce..MmmmMmmm!

Drying brings out the flavor of Morels 5x for some reason. I've eaten pounds fresh and they are decent, but dried is another thing entirely. Besides flavor, I'd like to save them up whole and store away for future meals.

Was there a question or are you just showing off your morel find.

Probably just take longer to dry if the trays aren't perfectly flush. If the tape works without imparting a fowl stench to the tasty morels, let us know.

Definitely showing off the find! But more importantly, I am curious as to what methods other people employ when stacking trays that cannot close completely. Duct tape smell is gone already, should be fine.

less water to disolve the flavour i guess, but cubes have LESS of a taste when dried...hmmm.

I load up cubies like this:

And then just stack the trays. Gaps disapear as they dry. Also flipping over every other tray so they dont fit in the notches gives you a small bit.

diver, i just stack them and line up the tray best i can, once they dry the trash lower and hook up, or you could put a weight on top. Both work fine. Look what i found today. It isnt ohio type of morel finds but its good for 100 degree cali.
