If this were a Chuck Palahniuk novel you'd be some guy whose job was to spread over the top rumours about new novels on internet message boards to try and create a buzz about them... but you'd also have some weird secret life fuelled by weird fetishes and a rebellious and self-destructive lover.

My favorite author. Check out Survivor. One of the best books I have ever read. I also have Lullaby, Diary, and Fugitives and Refugees. Such a great author.

I know who he is. I read his novel "Diary" last winter, and thought it was rubbish. Maybe this new book is better, though.

Diary was definitely not one of his best pieces. Read Survivor or Lullaby and you will be pleasantly surprised.

I haven't read the whole thing yet. Just parts of it. It's pretty interesting. He gives his own insights into the weirdness that is Portland.

Choke was his best work, imho.

It really opened me up to see just what my capacity for evil and darkness truley was.

It inspired alot of introspection.

I'd have to agree with everyone that said Choke was his best novel. But after comparing it to Fight Club and Survivor, those three seem to fit into a kind of formula. Diary seems like an attempt to break from the formula, but it doesn't work so well.

Fight Club kind of annoys me... not the book itself, but all the people who completely misinterpreted it as some kind of Adbustersey diatribe against commercialism.

I haven't read Invisible Monsters.

i'm a big fan of his earlier work ...

fight club, choke, invisble monsters, survivor ... and after that it starts getting a little unoriginal and uninspiring, starting with lullaby which i personally didn't like too much

other authors i would recommend that are sorta similar: hubert selby jr (the room, requiem for a dream), irvine welsh (trainspotting), and bret easton ellis (american psycho)

you didnt like lullaby? i thought it was better than diary...
i got his new book haunted and it seems alright so far the first real short story "guts" is hilariously disgusting...

i thought of fight club as a modern day sid artha imo but some people see it diffrently...
