hi...guys.
I did a little undercover work...on the Keeper.
I wrote an email to STP...the Spore Trading Post.
I know that posting emails aren't cool...but in this case I think we are ok. lolzz
I wanted to get to the bottom of where the Keepers Creeper strain came from...once and for all!~
So....
----- Original Message ----- From: ######## <---my fake email address anyway!~ To: msc@shrooms.com Sent: Monday, May 09, 2005 9:18 PM Subject: Trade!
Hello,
I'm interested in a trade with you. I have been working with some new strains. I have these strains available ###########, ############, ############,########### and ###########. <--(edited out my new strains...they haven't been released yet ...I just used them for bait!~).
I'm very interested in your Keeper Creeper strain. Where is it from and who developed it?
Hope to hear back from you soon. Sincerly, Jimmie
------
his response :
From: "Mushroom Man" <mushroomman@shrooms.ca> To: "jimmie" ############# <---(blocked out my fake email address!~) Cc: Subject: Re: Trade! Date: Tue, 10 May 2005 21:49:23 -0400
Hello! It was given to us as a gift from a trader, like you, from Jamaica Yes...we can trade with you. When we receive your prints we will ship ASAP! MAKE SURE YOU 'REPLY' SO I CAN FOLLOW OUR CONVERSATION. Thank you! Jack
----
So the Keeper is saying that the Keeper Creeper strain is from Jamaica!~
Should I continue with my Sting?
He might tell me what all his strains are.
lolzz

What the hell does that mean?
Well, spikes are tall and pointy, kinda like shrooms... well, if you cut the cap off maybe...
And I assume the association with Tequila is derived solely from the useage of the word spike (think "someone spiked the punch!")--which is really kind of sad, since the spikes part was baseless in the first place.

Hello everyone,
I have read this thread from the orig. Roadkill post .....
I am missing some of the info ..... about who Creeper is and what business he does.
It sounds like he has done some guys wrong.
Curious to know what has happened. Is there a link to where this all started?

okay use search engine this dick screws everyone over with syringes that dont work and prints drawn with a pencil that cost $30-80, and honey water called the keepers brew for 70 dollars his website is shrooms.com and he claimed he has a bunch of strains that dont exist with retarded names like tequila spikes, star gazers, hairy ass buffalo, yin yang, reality benders, and the keepers creeper which is really a cambodian strain hope this answers your question

As a hacker myself I must say RK that you have some impressive social engineering skills my friend. Keep up the good work and let's get to the bottom of this Keeper guy.
On a side note it is funny that this post should come it since I started a WBS Keepers Creeper grow about 8 days ago.

I cant even believe someone new could be tricked into those prices, i mean.. Fuck. Like I said ina different thread those better be some 5 gallon syringes for those prices .
Also id like to know where that print he thinks is worth 110 bucks came from. Oracle Spore Syringe $90.00 Oracle Spore Print $110.00
I highly doubt this guy gets much business though, maybe sells 1-3 items a month, its such a scam though he trys to act like your saving money when hes ripping you off more than bad.
"Keeper's Brew! HOW WOULD YOU LIKE TO GROW YOUR MUSHROOMS FASTER THEN EVER BEFORE? Save HUNDREDS to THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in spore cost, time, and overall quantity of mushrooms over many months of continuous growth! Multiply your spore syringe by 11x's... saving between $250-$1,250 alone! Capable of inoculating 132 1/2-Pint Substrate Jars!"
saving between $250-$1,250 alone! ive did plenty of grows in 05, and theres no way in hell I could save that much money seeing as what I spent wasnt even 1/4 of that.
Also, Roadkill you might wanna try to clear some things up with him.
"It was given to us as a gift from a trader, like you, from Jamaica"
Sounds to me like the guy who sent him the print sent it from Jamaica, but "Keeper" doesnt have a damn clue where the mushroom came from that took the print. This guys a lier/scammer, he might even try to switch up stories on you here soon.

well this is a really old thread. if you notice he does his business out of canada now. reason spores are no longer legal in ohio. from where his business is at its only about a 3hr drive to his po box. for this reason anybody could shut him down. this would however be bad karma on us. its better just to leave him be and let him get himself shut down. i would imagine he does a minimal amount of business these days anyway because most are aware of his scams and there are so many other options. im sure he is reading this as he still hovers around most mushroom sites.

oh yeah, shane, aka: The Keeper. What a con! preying on clueless individuals that want to cultivate. He receives most of his strains from Florida from a guy who goes by the alias Placebo. This is who develops his strains and shane just names them what he wants makes up fake descriptions and sells them for outrageous prices. Yeah, a lot of the old heads know Shane. So RK I bet that KC did not come from Jamaica!

Well I went all out and bought the "MES" or mushroom eco system, 2 syringes, $90 worth of "keepers brew" (which i found out was just malt/dex water in a jar, and when i got everything i instantly realized i was had, this wonderful MES was some pve pipe, and aquarium pumo, and a ionizer all thrown in a large tupperware container "the FC" and on top of it all it came with incomplete instructions that caused the colonization to halt bc of no gas exchange, so now i find myself looking for spores so I can do this the right way now! I am looking for something said to have good visuals... I find those to be the MOST FUN to study.....

Yeah, I asked Keeper why his prices were so much higher than other sites and why his spores have wierd names and this is the response I got: Our strains are hybrids. One of a kind clones that come from 1st and 2nd generation only. The spores that you see on these other Spore sites originally originated from our spore library (Z Strain, Keepers Creepers...etc.) that are much weaker do to constant spore collecting.... generation after generation. From my own study and reading about Keeper it seems that he is still conning people out of their money... somebody needs to shut this guy down. His response did generate some questions though. Does anyone know if what he says about spore collecting is true? I have been using the same spores for over a year now and they seem to work just as well, but I have noticed I get more aborts than I used to. Does a strain get "much weaker" if you collect and use it generation after generation?

Actually I think I like that nickname! But seriously, do you know if using the same strain to print generation after generation of new prints will "weaken the strain", or is that just hocum to make the sales pitch seem more valid?

I've heard arguments both ways, but I don't really see how growing from prints could really hurt the genetics. Mushrooms have grown from spore deposits for thousands of years. I don't see how in the relatively short period of time we humans have been domesticating them much degradation of the DNA would be possible.
I think more of the problem with strains showing changes over time is due to the mislabeling of current strains. Everyone makes mistakes, and when mass producing prints/syringes it's very easy to get them mixed up. It only takes one mislabeled print to get out to cause a problem.
Think of it as the butterfly effect. Think of it as a pyramid. I send you one mislabeled print and you grow it out. You send a few friends prints from that grow and two of them have contests on here or other sites giving out free prints of strain X, which is really strain Y. It doesn't take long to saturate the supply with this mislabeled strain.
I've never been dissatisfied with a tried and tested strain, unless it's one of the novelty strains isolated for unique traits. I stand by the notion that Cubensis "strains" are nothing more than a marketing ploy to sell spores. If you find a substrain you like working with, isolate it on agar and you'll be set.
I collect different strains for fun, not because I'm searching for the illusive "perfect strain".

People often put too much stock in which continent, region, or county a mushroom was growing on, when P. Cubensis grows on almost every corner of the globe. Vendor hype, to a degree, helps keep the Shroomery alive via sponsors, and you can't blame the vendors - people demand a wide variety of strains. Someone also mentioned the effect that the 'name' of a strain can often have on the cultivator - each trip is so subjective, that a cultivator can be hyped up about eating some 'super dank pink buffalos' or 'some South American boomers' and that hype can be subconsciously passed on to the people that also go along for the ride.
All that said, however, the Keeper can go fuck himself.

So I guess that this means that strain threads are now allowed in the cult forum! Yes! We should really start calling them races, spore race, yes that is the proper term.

I am inclined to agree with these statements. However, I have been growing a particular race from multi-spore for many years now(64 print to print grows), and it just keeps getting better, if it is changing at all.
