Psilocybe antioquensis fruiting attempt

Images of wild and harvested Psilocybe antioquensis (left and center photos by MJshroomer). Dried mushroom specimens for spore extraction and cultivation (right)

Successful isolation of healthy mycelium from dried mushroom specimens using benlate (mold specific fungicide) and gentamycin sulfate (antibiotic) malt agar. See earlier post for details.

Young mushrooms developing on grass seed cased with pasturized peat/calcium carbonate. Mini trial in small gladware container.

Maturing mushrooms. First flush. Note bluing on damaged and aborting mushrooms. None of these early fruits look much like the wild specimens. Several isolations will be needed before it can be determined if this is a species that can be domesticated. The caps are underdeveloped and are unlikely to generate usable amounts of spores. A second tray that is developing several days behind this one has a few more promising specimens.
This species appears to be closely related to the sclerotia forming species such as Psilocybe mexicana, tampanensis and "atlantis" but no sclerotia has been noted to date.

The species is from Cambodia. Benlate concentration is 10mg per liter.
