Melatonin?

Just began to wonder if maybe Melatonin, a methoxytryptamine, would be metabolized into other tryptamines by our friends. Just wondering if anyone has tried this. Would try it, but no free jars. That's a good thing right

I wish I knew enough about chemistry to tell you. It seems plausible but I know little... in general, about most things...
I would imagine that the worst that would happen is nothing. The second worst is that you'd have mushrooms that produce a very sleepy buzz. Although, depending on the strain that might be a good thing; I hear Azurens are somewhat of a speedy buzz. The best... well, you know what the best possible scenario is
Hell, in the absense of real advice just give it a try! It would be interesting to see a side by side comparison.

I plan to attempt this the next time I have jars to work with. Maybe I should purchase some more?

Don't think you could just make a 10% solution from powder, or do you think things like Magnesium Stearate would harm them? I think all the listed "Other Ingredients" are plant derived. Mostly polysaccharides.

Magnesium stearate, silica, titanium dioxide...it's all just fillers, flowing agents and binders. They won't hurt anything. If nothing else I would venture to guess (this is a theory mind you) that the flowing agents in capsules would work similar to gypsum powder in that they would allow for less sticking and easier cake or grain separation for casing. If they are tablets I would suggest crushing them to powder. Although, if it's a tablet they usually contain binders which may act oposite a flowing agent and might cause things to be a bit paste-like in high quantities. If it's a caplet you can use the powder as is. You could try it in a solution form with water or mix the powder into your casings or cakes directly.

Will do.
But also I was wondering if misting with a 10% solution after fruiting would be beneficial. Shouldn't harm the fruits you think?

Shnezbit has a point... ask in advanced and you might get a more scientific answer.
Misting seems unnecessary. If it's in the substrate then it will take it in that way, if it's going to at all. Besides, you're not sure what it will do to the mushrooms so it's wise to start with one variable at a time. That way you'll know which variable had which affect. Control + 1 variable per experiment. From what I remember about the experimental method you want at least six of each set to obtain some statistical significance; however that's not always an option due to cost and or space considerations for the home experimenter. My .02 worth and just a hypothesis on my part. I'm not an expert by any means. Good luck
