The grass isn't always greener; or is it?
    #4157671 - 05/10/05 01:21 PM (18 years, 10 months ago)

Buddha gave up on riches and travel and sexuality AFTER he had fully drunk of them and not before. He chose the Middle Path AFTER choosing the extremes of indulgence and ascetism.

What does that have to do with anything? The cliche about the grass not being greener can ONLY be made by one who has fully searched and found that search to be lacking. This advice is totally discarded by curious, impetuous and dissatisfied youth - as it should be.

Dissatisfaction is our lot as human beings, and rather than being some sort of flaw; is what makes us great. There would be no discovery, no invention; in fact, hardly any movement at all if we all accepted our "lot in life" without wondering what was over the next hill and around the bend.

Should we accept Mexican brick weed, or through selective breeding and carefully controlled growing conditions and hi-tech lighting; discover that the grass is actually greener (or stonier)?  :stoned:

To further elaborate he was born into a royal family, it was expected of him to indulge in these actions of sexuality, riches, and luxury. His spiritual yearning grew out of total disgust of this lifestyle, and he escaped the palace to become a yogi because that was the highest form of spiritual practice that was available to him at that time, but after applying extreme effort in spiritual practice for a long time, he still did not discover freedom from suffering, and this is when he abandoned the extreme way of asceticism and discovered the middle way to enlightenment.

Depends on if the grass was green or not. First you have to tell me there are others who can see the grey in the world. If it were not a mind demon who was seeking your head. Or a group to execute several diagnostic testing on this animal.

And it still depends on if the grass is green or not.
Sure, and then there is no future 'ahead'.

Buddha lived his life to the fullest, looking for answers the whole time. Everyone is looking for the answers, but not everyone lives their lives to the fullest. When it comes to buds though.....fuck brickweed.

I agree. Dissatisfaction IS what make us great. Contentment is the demon that steals our future.

I can?t get no satisfaction,
I can?t get no satisfaction.
?cause I try and I try and I try and I try.
I can?t get no, I can?t get no.

When I?m drivin? in my car
And that man comes on the radio
And he?s tellin? me more and more
About some useless information
Supposed to fire my imagination.
I can?t get no, oh no no no.
Hey hey hey, that?s what I say.

I can?t get no satisfaction,
I can?t get no satisfaction.
?cause I try and I try and I try and I try.
I can?t get no, I can?t get no.

When I?m watchin? my tv
And that man comes on to tell me
How white my shirts can be.
Well he can?t be a man ?cause he doesn?t smoke
The same cigarrettes as me.
I can?t get no, oh no no no.
Hey hey hey, that?s what I say.

I can?t get no satisfaction,
I can?t get no girl with action.
?cause I try and I try and I try and I try.
I can?t get no, I can?t get no.

When I?m ridin? round the world
And I?m doin? this and I?m signing that
And I?m tryin? to make some girl
Who tells me baby better come back later next week
?cause you see I?m on losing streak.
I can?t get no, oh no no no.
Hey hey hey, that?s what I say.

I can?t get no, I can?t get no,
I can?t get no satisfaction,
No satisfaction, no satisfaction, no satisfaction

It is a waste of human spirit to find enjoyment in the moment because it passes so quickly, yet with no end in sight.
