Is it safe to eat 9 month old shrooms?

I bought some mushrooms in Camden sometime last August and got a small box of pretty crappy looking, semi-dried thais thrown in for free. Anyways I basically never got round to eating the thais, and they were completely forgotten about, sat in the back of my very dirty fridge ever since (yes, I live in a student house ) About a month ago, a flatmate moved them into a cupboard, so they are now completely dry. I'm pretty sure shrooms can be kept almost indefinitely once dried, but these guys had about 8 months in limbo in a fridge.. should be safe though.. right?

They were kept fresh for 8 months in the fridge? They must have been rotten after that long.

cheers guys well there's no obvious rot to look at them, they don't smell of anything much either. I've only ever eaten fresh mushrooms, so I'm not too sure what dried ones look like, but I think that's basically what these are now. They weren't 'fresh' when they went in the fridge by any means Anno, Id say they were about 70% or so dried..

Last time I had something in my fridge for 8 months, we had to get a Haz-mat team in to remove it... and I got fined for endangering the environment

I wouldn't risk it unless I was 1000% sure that they didn't get infected with something or were rotting. From the pic they look a little brown and funky, given that could just be from the fridge, but still if they weren't 100% dry when you put them in the fridge they could catch something nasty. Now if you put them in a freezer and took them out to dry then that would be a different story.
My point is are those mushies worth testing? I mean are you willing to risk poisoning yourself just for a trip? I personally value my health more than any trip so whenever I come upon something questionable I just say fuck it and throw that shit out. Also just imagine you actually do ingest them and your tripping, now your tripping your balls off yet you are still thinking "hmmmm I wonder if these were safe to eat?" I wouldn't want that kind of shit on my mind in that sort of state.

i would not eat those. these are mushrooms we're talking about. a very common thing to come across. if it were DMT or something similar that isn't as easy to obtain then i would consider evaluating it closer. but i would throw those in the trash right away.

There is no way you can keep anything fresh in your fridge for nine months. And by the looks of the picture, your a dead man if you eat them.
Toss em!

If they're black, Trash em, if they look jus how you bought em, then i'd probably go at it...
But i personally wouldn't, you said they were probably about 70% dried, that means that 30% that had some moisture either rotten possiably, or got bacteria and dried with it, can't be sure without seeing better pictures, but i'd honestly just toss em, they're not hard to come by...well...around here anyways

It looks like they absorbed some moisture in the fridge and began the rotting process perhaps. I would toss em personally...not worth getting ill or worse.

an average freezer (unless yours is specifically designed to be otherwise) have between 80% and 95% humidity. They might be very cold, but think of all the shitty bacteria that's floating around there, plus judging by the fact you were actually able to forget about those shrooms for 9 months i can imagine the state of your fridge.. and if you've ever had food poisoning you should realise how big the risk of what you're taking on is... personally i'd throw them the fuck away..
