OK so I have been all over austin in search of vermiculite, but none of the stores i have been to carry it. All they have is perlite. Does this work with the PF method (brown rice flour)? I just got my spores and want to start my project tonight, so a qucik response would be helpful. Thanks a ton! baba

No, perlite does not work. It is used for humidifcation and not for a substrate.

Try calling nurserys in your area, try Scottys if you have one or lowes, I know scottys has it. If all else fails you can always order it or try a different substrate.

Verigro is a good brand. You can get it in like 20 gallon feed bags. We have anything grows in Alabama which is like a small nursery. My friend had to order it from them. But its really chunky and great for jars. Peace...

Hey baba, I get my verm at Wolfe nursery here in S.A.. it's a seventy mile drive but I think it would be well worth it, as they always seem to have plenty at $3.99 a bag. If you really can't find any there, you could come here and stock up.Just don't take it all dammit! ;p
