I finally did it!

no more!! after 4 years of being a slave, I have quit smoking tobacco cold turkey!
I'm on my fourth straight day and I feel no more physical cravings, now I just have to deal with the mental ones, but overall I feel great!
I haven't been posting on here as much because I've been dealing with the physical side of the addictions. man how potent the stuff is on your body. I got the shakes, chattering of the death, hot and cold flashes. horrible!
so to anyone who is thinking of quitting, you can do it! I've tried quitting before, but always gave in on the second or third day. Instead of using the patch, I just went at it will pure willpower, and I think that's the best way to go.
-------------------- Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

Ive quit about 40 times this year so far.....Ive only got one tip. Dont drink alcohol for about a month unless its just a single drink.....after 2 or 3 the cravings for a smoke will be overwhelming.

I quit cold turkey after smoking for ~2 years. It wasn't that hard after about a week. I still get cravings everyonce in a while.

I just quit recently here myself
I cut back to like a handful of ultra-lights a day, and then decided not to buy any more when I realized my cravings where becomming less and less frequent
pot took care of whatever physical bullshit I woulda normally gone through (with the exception of a few of those fucked up 'body wave' things) and I haven't looked back since

breaking the habbit first is definately the way to go though
ain't nothing worse then getting past all that physical bullshit, and then wind up burning through a pack without even thinking twice about it the next time you go out to a club or some shit

heh um...like forgetting that you actually quit and smoke another cig...
I find that I do miss the up and down motion that my arm made when smoking. goes to show how the mind and then body can get stuck it patterns.

exactly
it's like you're getting ready to go out for the night, and as a sort of natural reaction you just ask for a pack of whatever when you stop off at the gas station...and the realization that you don't do that shit anymore doesn't even come to mind until some time the next day when those damn cravings start kicking back in
I can't even tell you how many times I've done this

Congrats dude. I doubt I'll ever completely quit myself. I enjoy cigarettes but I don't smoke regular. I often go a week or more without one. Last fall I went 6 weeks just to flush out my system a bit and never had any serious cravings. Just lucky I guess. I used to smoke over a pack a day but now its mainly when I drink or use drugs and its more like a pack a week. I really enjoy cigs with my beer, and probably always will.
