setting mycelium on perilite??????

is it ok to just set the mycelium cakes right on the perilite??????

if your cake is getting dry it should be fine. No longer than a day. I've done that to a dry cake then flipped it over to have verm. side up, and with the perlite that stuck and the wet verm, that was the only place on the cake where the mushrooms grew. can anyone relate to this one? I heard it bad to flip cakes though, something with gravity.
