i have recently learned of shrooms and their effects. sounding to good to be true ive decided to undertake a lil bit of shroom hunting and knowledge. i read about the times and the places to look but, thats where i ran into some problems, i have very limted knowledge about what to take and what not to. i live in north east texas. and have found many mushroooms, but not what i want to find, untill today while looking in a cow pasture i found a single mushoom growing out of the ground, about 10' away from fresh dung. it was small and white about 4 1/2" tall and had the cap tight against the stem. i didnt have my cam with me at the time, so no pics "sorry". by the time i got home it had started bruising under the cap, but the stem remans white. after about 2 hours it has gotin dark blue/purple under the cap and the stem is still white. there is just the lightest hint of brown in the center of the top of the cap. anyway im woundering if you might could tell me what ive found and that age old question "to eat or not to eat". lol all the other mushooms ive found are solid white stem and cap and they dont bruise at all. ill post pics of both. any help would be great, and my liver thanx you
aditional info 30 hours since last rain temp. low 60s to mid 80s i havent found any at all in dung
I wouldn't recommend eating anything until you are absolutely sure what it is. Sounds a lot like you found yourself a cubensis but don't take my word on it. Find a more experienced shroomer or better yet a mycologist. Post some pics and I'm sure there will be people here that can help you out. Peace!

A spore print is needed for an ID. Also if it's the mushroom in your avatar, it's not active. Too many newbs signing on tonight with their pictures in their avatars trying to get an ID with poor information. Please read the forums sticky on giving proper ID information. Good description = good answers, tell all your friends!
I'm not saying the information you gave was poor, just incomplete. Spore print is definately needed!
