A few random hunting questions
    #4154778 - 05/09/05 09:39 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

If there are extremely weedy areas is it possible for mushrooms to grow.

Also, I live near the woods and have made a few visits. I was curious if mushrooms grow on cyote or deer crap.

Do I have a better chance of finding mushrooms in dense forest areas rather than areas with less plants and more soil?

You'll find more mushrooms in wet areas, and in the shadow. And some need trees to grow up so i'd say its better in the forest.

It all depends on the species of mushroom you seek. You will not find active mushrooms on deer or coyote poo.

If you are seeking actives, check the FAQ to see which species grow in your area, then search past posts to see the habitat where people find them.

Like posted before, it does depend on the species of mushroom you are after. Woodland/forrests are great places to go hunting. BUT, sometimes if it's too wet mushrooms can rot/mould, i've noticed it a little bit, but they do love moisture

I was wondering can shrooms grow out of a nice compost pile or two?
