rain water
    #4154717 - 05/09/05 09:18 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I have been told that rain water is better for plants then just tap water so I have started collecting and filling up jugs of rain water. Does anyone do this or heard about this?

rain water would be better because it has nutrients such as nitrogen in it which helps growth

rainwater is better because it doesent have the chloride atc in it than tapwater does. pond water has had the time to let a bunch of bad things sink to the bottem and all the micro organisms and plantlife
filter it and add more good stuff...

if u use rainwater make sure u get a bigass container so u can let the crap sink and use only the cleaner water from the top...

Caution, rain water can promote algae, so I wouldn't use it for seedlings.

I would say if you live in a semi-rural area that rain water would be o.k., but if you live in a city you should use filtered water. I live in Phoenix, and the rain(little that we get) tastes bad and smells bad, but so does the tap. Or as vertigo said let the crap sink to the bottom. In any case rain water should be better.

Rain water is also more oxygenated...

You can imitate that by watering your plants with weak Hydrogen peroxide aquaeus solutions!
