Will this work?

I want to do an outdoor grow, but instead of digging a hole and putting spawned manure into it, I want to just fill a bucket with some spawned manure, and case it with potting soil/straw/ grass seed. Will this work if i drill some holes in the bottom of the bucket for drainage, and put it in a shady spot?

Mo used to do something like that, but I could never get it to work.

I dont see why it's any different than in the ground.

My problem is my current outdoor bed is getting dug up by some animal, i think. I hope it doesn't keep digging at it, or it's going to ruin it.
