my outdoor bed progress?

I started 3 small outdoor beds about 5 days ago. They are horse and cow manure spawned with colonized WBS cased with potting soil/straw/grass seed. I went to check them today and some animal or something dug all 3 of them up a little. Just kind of dug about 6 inches down into the middle of all 3 of them, and strung the straw and potting soil around a little. All the poo and spawn was still in the holes. I filled them back in, and recovered them w/ the potting soil/straw. I then watered them a little. Are they going to be ok? I would think they'd be fine as long as they dont keep getting dug up. What could have done this? ALso, what can i do to prevent it from happening again? I already pissed around all the beds to kind of "mark the territory" and hopefully keep animals away.

They should be fine. You might want to consider erecting a mini-fence to keep animals out--there are a variety of materials you could use (be creative). Alternatively, you could securely (with rocks maybe) lay down that black porous stuff used to keep out weeds in gardens over your patch until it's ready to fruit.

Dude I think it's deer maybe that are getting in my outdoor bed. Like every 3 days i go out there and there holes in it. I put down that weed guard stuff on the bottom to keep out stuf from coming up uderneath. I think i'm about to say screw it and quit messing with it.

temps. range from upper 60's to mid 80's during the day, and about 50- mid 60's at night.
I may try to cover it with something until it's ready to fruit. Any suggestions on what to cover it with? It needs to be kind of stealth and blend it if possible.
Would some trash bags ripped so they lay flat, staked into the ground over the beds keep in moisture, and maybe keep out animals?

is it possible for you to erect some kind of roof over it at night? maybe just some bricks/cinder blocks supporting a big square of plywood?

i checked it today, and the garbage bag seems to be doing its job. No animal has messed with it for a couple days. I looked at the bed and it seems that the WBS kernals are all solid white w/ myc. but they have yet to colonize any of the poo. Maybe i should just give it some more time. With the garbage bags on there it gets no light really, so i figure after about 2 weeks ill take the bag off and let the fruiting begin.
Is it normal for it to take awhile for the myc. to start colonizing the poo it was spawned too?
