No, he was saying he is only interested in sex when it was combined with love.
I said, that is just as dumb as only being interested in love when combined with sex. Love and sex can both be enjoyed by themselves or combined with each other. I'm saying the two can be enjoyed on their own, or in combination, and that it's foolish to deny yourself either on the basis the other one isn't there.

Hey, I like multivitamin juice, and someone likes orange juice, if he likes sex only with love, it is his taste and way of life, how can it be dump if he likes it only like that? Am I then dumb for liking multivitamin juice better than orange?

Um.
Because no one doesn't like sex by itself.
It's only a preference because of the cultural lie that sex should only go with true love. It's dumb to hang onto that little voice in your head that goes "I should love this person in order to sleep with them." when that voices only purpose is to help maintain a social order that makes heterosexual judeo-christians feel less challenged.

It's a tradition that he choses to follow
it is not a cultural lie nor a cultural truth, it has nothing to do with lie and truth, it is just what people do, and besides a lot of people don't stick with that anyway
This is what I call violent-freedom (I don't really call it like that, I made that up now ) it's like "be free, that's an order" we all have preferences, sometimes a change from limitation to freedom can be unwanted by someone, and you must respect that because to him release might be as negatives as imprisonment might be to you
and besides If we are to talk about lies, it is the same kind of lie that you should not kill a child of the former husband of your current wife to make her carry a child of your own for you, it is a natural thing to do but we still stick with that "lie"

If your interested in this stuff, get the books the "Lucifer Principle", and "Global Brain" by Howard Bloom.
Talks all about sex being utilized in an evolutionary aspect, as well as being utilized as a mechanism of manipulation.... crazy insights in the book. I read them when I was 17 or so, it literally changed my whole perspective.

Well, even though we're thinking feeling beings, the urge to mate is pretty much "hardwired" into our brains. It's an ancient and powerful part of our brain, almost as strong as the self-preservation "circuits" (as it were)....

You said a mouthful brother. I think this is really what's going on here. Equating sex and love as one thing is just cultural teaching, and personal insecurities IMO.

Denying yourself the natural right to kill a potential male competition in your neighbourhood is also cultural teaching, denying yourself the natural right to take your pants of and shit on someones carpet is also a cultural teaching
Seems to me a lot of people on this forum like to dismis certain things as a dogma and cultural lie, and keep the other things that they couldn't do as being a part of enlightenment or whatever. That's double standards.
So why is freeing your self of every boundary in sex good and in violence bad? Both we restrained by society and morality, why free one of them and keep the other one locked up?

When you become adult you should get to choose for yourself your own behaviors, as long as they don't harm others.
I care not if someone wants to only have sex with those that they love as long as they don't start calling names on those that feel the sex act as holy outside of a exclusive relationship to one person.
To each his own. In some cultures this conversation would bring no response, because they don't have so many taboos on sex.
Sex is life force and the chosen method by life of creating life on the material plane. How can that not be powerful?

_____________________________________________________________________ so in answer to your question, I would say that the reason humans care about sex so much is because they are robotic morons that lack the ability to rise above the mechanisms of their biology and realize that there is more to life than what is immeadiately obvious. __________________________________________________________________
Yeah right oldwood, Doing some selective reading aren't we.

Your notion of love and sex is far too simplistic. One can enjoy love + sex, and not enjoy sex on it's own. You are committing the fallacy of division.
Love has it's own unique properties, as does sex, but when combined can create new properties that did not exist prior to combination. He could enjoy those specific properties.
Also, morality could come into play. There are several moral theories that do not allow sex without love. In fact, if you were to use the categorical imperative test (Immanuel Kant), you would come to the conclusion that doing so is immoral.
