I should have known better but with school and what not i've been in a rush all the time, it's finals time you know. anyway I pasturized about 7 gallons of straw and spawned with 3 qts of b. oyster needless to say only the bigger chunks of spawn are showing growth because my straw was still too wet, i let is strain over night however, i didn't want any contams to settle on it so it was in an air tight container, bad idea, humidity was probably 100% the whole time and it dried little. Should i make an outdoor bed with the straw, two bags will make it 3 others show little to no growth in a week, is it too late to punch holes? anyway, mistakes keep us humble right.
also i'm new with oysters all looks well with my jars of spawn but they have a sweet fragrance, but no signs of any contams, i'm guessing oyster mycelium just has a fragrant odor, not bad odor just a noticable one?
