Where time becomes a loop...
    #4152577 - 05/09/05 08:28 AM (13 years, 16 days ago)

This is the intro track to an Orbital album I recently acquired. It absolutely blew my mind last night on some home made hash.  :stoned: Had to share for those who have not experienced it...

im a big fan of delay, and the concept of time repeating itself (as it does on some higher-dosed trips) ... i liked the sequencing but i feel more should have been done with it for texture, because by itself it feels very incomplete ...

Orbital was the first electronic music that I ever bought, got all their stuff apart from 1 or two of their recent albums

Good stuff generally

Yeah, I feel you.. but being just an intro to the album, I feel it can work as is.

If you liked that check out James Holden's remix of Nathan Fake's "The Sky was Pink" The same concept but put into an entire song.

Orbital is also the first electronic music I ever bought (next to the hackers soundtrack)

The brown album (aka orbtal II, the album you speak of) has been my fav album ever since I bought it back in 95-96. Orbital's def my fav group of album...

Halcyon & ON & ON has been my fav song ever since I heard it

Listen in to shroomery radio now and then. I often play them on my show.

an absolute electronic classic

i will remember this album when im old an senile as being great

in case you didn't know, thats warf from star trek saying that

also, the sample on the preceding song where it goes "even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day, even a stopped clock gives the right time twice a day..." is from the movie "withnail and i" (think of it as a british take on 'fear and loathing in las vegas'..."

also, id like to point out that as much as i like the album, there is some serious wierd gayness goin on in the track "impact (the earth is burning)". i think the track is really great but there is some wierd singing in it that really sounds whack.

hahaha

synchronicity... we were planning our playlist last night for our trip tonight and this gem came up. I've listened to it a few times tripping, always stretches my hearing.

Pioneered by the contemporary experimental musician Steve Reich and his many pieces that used phasing. "Come Out To Show Them" is the first one that comes to mind. Same concept with a vocal sample extracted from a guy who was beaten by cops, but had to prove it so he "like, had to open it up so the bruise blood would come out to show them. come out to show them. come out to show them...."

I've heard that Steve Reich song, I used to have a cd of remixes of reich tunes. Whats his normal stuff like?
