No fruiting Chamber so far...is it too late?
    #4150354 - 05/08/05 03:17 PM (12 years, 2 months ago)

well my friend pedro tells me that he has had a casing with no fruiting chamber just sitting in a box lightly covered with plastic.
it gets lots of oxygen as the casing is taken completeley out for mistings and adoration rituals.  its been about a week, and now he can see hyphnal knots poppin up everywhere, there is even a realllly tiny aborted pin. pedro wants to know is it ok to fruit without a fruiting chamber if it gets good humidity/air exchange ect? and if he made one today would it make a difference in the first flush since its about to pin anyday now anyways? you help is appreciated o mighty mushroom templars! :tongue2: :mushroom2: :mushroom2:

What type of casing container?  What substrate?  Casing material?  Did "Pedro" line the box with plastic?  Keeping the humidity up in a cardboard box is going to harbor contams like a son of a bitch so be careful... GL bro :stoned:

1. container : a metal bowl. about 4-5 inches deep in the center,
2. substrate: corn.
3. Straight coir.
box is lined with plastic. anybody got a link to mycophiles neglect tek my search results produced nada.

i mean it looks like a perfectly healthy casing. a tad overlayed, but it happens.

1. container : a metal bowl. about 4-5 inches deep in the center,

plastic pans like the glad oven ware are more suited to the application

2. substrate: corn.

works pretty well but not the best IMO

3. Straight coir.

60/40 vermiculite and coir is a proper casing layer, the coir alone doesnt hold enough water to be used as casing, it simply there to keep the vermiculite from
becoming too dense once it's wet.

box is lined with plastic. anybody got a link to mycophiles neglect tek my search results produced nada.

if you can pick up some perlite and a rubermade tub you can have a terrarium
as for the neglect tek for casings, not a good idea, you do want to keep
good air exchange and occasional mist it if it's needed
