All round good news for Auckland (Includes unidentified PA mushroom)

Two good things happened to me today.
Walking down **specific location deleted by shroomydan** street after Uni I found 20 mushrooms which I know to be magic but havn't identified, there definitely not subs. They look alot like liberty caps but I don't think thats what they are because they grow out of mulch. I found these two years ago but havn't found them since until today.
Heres a picture of them:

Heres an enhanced picture showing bluing:

Here's the details for the curious:
Cap: Murky brown with a black nippled tip, just like liberty caps. Maintains same shape shown in pictures in all stages of growth. The cap is Semi Translucent at the bottom, the gills are visible. Stains blue rapidly. The cap is covered in a thin layer of slime. Largest cap 1.5cm wide. Stem: Completely white, staining blue rapidly. Largest height is 7-8cm. Gills: Browny white, stains blue rapidly. Spore print: Deep purple/black Substrate: Mulch
Well after finding these I thought I would take a stroll through my local golf course and surrounding areas. After searching for about an hour and finding nothing I randomly stumbled upon a patch of several hundred subs about 100m from my house.
All in all, the seasons started and I'm one bloody happy camper

Nice find Resolute
I edited your thread to remove the street name. I have noticed a lot of specific locations in the Kiwi threads lately, and have been letting them slide because I don't know how big these places are, but I think y'all need to to be more careful.
Long stretches of highway are allowed; street names are not.

Good stuff resolute interesting find there.
Thos mushrooms do look a bit weird, but I have found patches of subs growing from wood chip/mulch that look just like that in Dunedin. My guess is that they are some strain of sub.
Sounds like the other patch was a good one, lets see some pics!!!

I found some of those in Dunedin too, and I wouldn't jump to say that they're a strain of sub...they're pretty different in a lot of ways. Cap colour is significantly different, thinner stems, pointier cap...to me they seemed like some weird mix of sub and liberty...because they were fruiting off wood. If I find any more I'll get some pics. Definatley something interesting...though it is possible its just a subspecies of subaeruginosa like haunted said.

not really, except for the nipple...i think azures have a much more orange / caramel cap, open their caps flatter, and are an overall larger and chunkier shroom than these ones...

Interesting to see a few of you have found them.
I don't reckon their subs, they seem to different. Their way off colour, have a nipple and a different shape and they have a darker spore colour.
Unfortunately I don't have a camera, I would be getting pics, incredbily potent wavy capped subs.
Sorry about the name shroomydan, it is quite a big road but anyone with knowledge wouldn't take that long to work out where it was.
