Wow, that's pretty fucked.

Regardless of whether or not you support Bush, that's a sad thing to see.

Separation of church and state at work... :whatever: It should go both ways, although it doesn't go either way.

It's their stupid club, they can do whatever they want. Has nothing whatsoever to do with the government.

Regardless, this isn't a matter of whether you're conservative or democrat. This whole situation just reeks of tastelessness. If it was the same situation, except a church not letting in Bush supporters, it eould be equally as disgusting.

Why would any of you care at all what they do with their stupid club. It's a stupid club, nothing more. Calling it a church does not confer any greater value than the He-Man Woman Haters clud has. Who gives a shit and why?

Because most people don't see it a stupid club. Too most it means something alot more, which is why it's fucked.

Believe when me I tell you that I do not give a shit when the various Marxist groups have tiffs with the various socialist groups, or when Farrakhan kicks insufficiently whacky members of the Nation of Islam out. It's all bullshit, it's their bullshit and why oh why would anybody but a fucking baptist care. I repeat, it's their stupid club and they can be as mean to each other as they want, the stupid fucks. In the end, for anybody not in the club to be outraged, which seems to be what's going on here, is ridiculous. Not to mention busybodyish. Fuck 'em, they're stupid, no shit, who cares.

I'm actually going to have to agree with zappa here. Religion's fucked up as it is. To ask them to be reasonable is like asking a whale to fly. If they were reasonable, they wouldn't be going to church every Sunday fearing that some invisible man might smite them if they mess up.

"Christians" refers to any one who believes that Jesus is the son of some mystical god. You can't be thrown out of your belief. The particular stupid club I am referring to here is the particular baptist congregation in this particular town. Why anyone not in it would give a shit is a mystery to me

I just think these people should have a right to go to whatever church they want. I'm not Christian, but if I was, I'd like to think that I could walk into any church and be welcomed.

The Mormon church will not let non-members set foot inside the temple. Would you force them to change their dogma to fit your views? Like zappa said, it's a club. They can set their own rules for who they let in and who they don't.

And the congregation has the right to toss out anyone they want. Once again, it is their stupid club and they can restrict the membership on any grounds they wish. You most certainly do not have the right to walk into any church you want whether you'd like to think so or not. They absolutely have the right to demand certain things as a prerequisite to membership. The Catholic church has much stricter requirements, as do the Mormons and the Jews. You have to prove that you believe as they do to be in their stupid club as well.

There are lots of different types of christians with very different beliefs. It is prejudice to group them all together, you have to look at the individual(s).

I care as much about this as I would care if some backwater hick private church in Alabama kicked people out simply because they listened to Marilyn Manson. It's a private organization that chooses their own bullshit, and in turn I know they'll receive hell for it from individuals.

There's no need to worry, this church will get its due from other private individuals. It's a vicious cycle of caring too much about such useless things.

The really sad thing is that I am a Christian and I agree with you here. Most Christians are a bunch of idiots who hold their beliefs simply because it is what they have been taught their entire lives. Please do realize that there are exceptions to the rule. The people in my church are by no means the crazy Christians you see on tv all the time. Most people in my church (I would say about 75% including the pastor who sees no difference between most drugs and alcohol) even think that drugs should be legal. Please don't group all Christians into one neat little crazy group.

No, forcing them to change would be wrong.

Breaking and entering and pooping in the baptistry however, would be right.

Very, very right.
