Trip Music
    #4147904 - 05/07/05 08:33 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Hello all, what kind of music does everyone here use to enhance their trips? I would imagine bands like Cream, Pink Floyd, The Doors, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Iron Butterfly, Status Quo, New Riders of the Purple Sage....would be best? Anyone have any opinions?

Depends on my mood, but I usually go with either Grateful Dead or Pink Floyd. The Orb has some really good techno mixes of Dark Side of the Moon and other Pink Floyd songs. The Orb version of Echoes is really cool to have on while you're tripping...so is the normal version of Echoes for that matter though.

Whatever type of music you normally enjoy, you will probably enjoy it ten fold while tripping. For the most part I like to listen to upbeat songs when I'm tripping to keep the energy right. Mostly punk/rock etc. My last trip I listened to Sublime and Modest Mouse, then as I was coming down some of The Postal Service.

Native American music might be a good choice--especially, but not necessarily restricted to, peyote chants.

These links contain samples.

It is my personal opinion that rock music is a poor choice and actually serves to strengthen materialism and illusion.

'Screamadelica' by Primal Scream is an awesome album to trip to. The album itself plays as an ecstacy trip, but works just as well when on Shrooms.

Bob Marley, I believe it is near impossible to have a bad trip listening to "Legends"

A Perfect Circle, their latest album is full of layers that draw you in.  Listen to "gravity" and you will get pulled inside Maynard's head.

Sublime

Meat Beat Manifesto, "actual sounds and voices".  Great druggy beats, best track is "acid again".

And if you feel the need to listen to death and evil, have to check out Skinny Puppy's "Last Rights".  It could be the darkest epic I have ever heard, makes The Downward Spiral sound like elevator music.

SHPONGLE III is coming!!
SAMPLES AVAILABLE HERE:
http://www.shpongle.com/released.htm
Its "Nothing Lasts" - the album right at the top of the list.

Shpongle is always 50 steps ahead

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.
In addition: SHPONGLE

You know, this thread/question does'nt even matter, because when your tripping balls you're gonna decide you want to listen to some music and you're gonna crawl over to where your cd's are, stopping for a few minutes to loose yourself in the complexitys of the carpet, snap back to the realization that you wanted to find music, shuffle through some cd's, bypassing your daily favorites, and find a paticular disc that just makes you go "oh god! YES! I need to hear this right fucking now!" and you'll put it on and kick back and go on a journey for an hour, then it will be done, the room will be filled with a curious, slightley uncomfortable stillness and silence, and you'll decide, "I need some more music" and the process repeats.

You'll disregard and/or forget all these suggestions and ideas, because each trip is a unique, individual experience, and the music that fits the experience is going to be different everytime.

Um...........

anyway,

How about Shulmin - Sounscapes and moddern tales?
