50/50 what? Coir and verm, peat and verm, what? If it's peat. and verm. you are going to need a buffer of some kind. Maybe egg shells if you're in a bind. Good Luck.

You really should get some buffer for peat. Try eggshell if you're in a bind.

That I'm not sure about. Hopefully someone with experience can answer that for ya. I use crushed oyster shell and hydrated lime. Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony.

Two things you should buy & use before you make a casing mix.
1. Some sort of finely ground high % limestone.
2. A PH test meter - probe type.

Both can usualy be had at Lowes, HomeDepot and/or large garden supply Marts for under $20 - total.

You have come this far. Why not continue to progress.
Less than optimal PH casing mix - can screw up the whole works.
You want the PH around 7.5 to 8.

If you insist, use the powder of about 5 egg shells. Best - if some powder is very fine & some like very small sand.

ratio would regard the amount you would use with respect to your other ingredient/s.

a measurement would be relevant to the amount of buffer you would use: X cups of casing mix

you use the buffer to adjust the ph of the peat.
if you will be using a meter, do this before you add the verm.
