Too many here complain as if that were a bad thing because they read it somewhere. I contend it is only bad if one is delusional.
Should Lance Armstrong tell himself and others, "I suck as a long-distance bicycle racer!" or should he rightly be proud of his phenomenal accomplishment? Should Ali have proclaimed, " I AM THE WORST!"?

The only problem I could see is if a person was so focused on their accomplishments or their abilities, that they would be unable to see their own faults and weaknesses, or any other aspect of reality that such a state of mind would obstruct...
But, of course, you already conditioned that out with:
Quote:
Swami said: I contend it is only bad if one is delusional.
...so hell ja.

If you need to feel superior by claiming you know best, then you haven't the slightest what superiority is about.
Take that as you wish, do with it what you like. It's not my life we're talking about.

I think people mainly don't like arrogance. I think arrogance mixed with a bit of humility would be okay. With regard to Ali, I think he was spontaneious or impulsive when he proclaimed that, and it was arrogant. But why not? He was at the pinnacle of his career, and he WAS the greatest at that time.

people who regard braggadocio as a negative are plain and simple losers. Green with envy they know they will never ever be even second place so they curse the gifted.
there is only enough room in this world for one cowboy at a time. Everyone else is an imitator, shit masticator.

Than you must be the greatest man of all time. I been watching your posts and you've got nothing important to say. All you have left is bragging. Go for it, nobodys listening.

OMG! not one comment about ego-loss.
Some mistake arrogance for confidence, it isn't necessarily an actual expression of superiority, as much as it is a projected expression of it.

It's a useless expenditure of energy though, feeling and claiming your superiority. If you were excellent at something, you wouldn't need to constantly tell others and yourself, "I am the best!" You wouldn't even need to bring it up. You follow your natural instincts, and you get what you get. As you get older your abilities decline, and if you were arrogant in your youth, telling others you were the best, now you start to become the worst and your arrogance may come back to bite you in the ass.
-------------------- So long as you are praised think only that you are not yet on your own path but on that of another.

I have become very aware of this lately, no matter how well I care for the psysical body, it's fate is decay. All the power of youth is fading. What is left? I choose to change directions now. Instead of trying to fight a losing battle with life. I am learning a new art, for a different kind of task. The art of surrender and the art of unconditional love.
