Shrooms and Time?
    #4144709 - 05/07/05 02:45 AM (11 years, 10 months ago)

This might be a strange question but I'm quite curious. About five months ago me and my group of friends went on a major shroom binge eating anywhere from a half ounce to two ounces individually a day. I don't need to say that it was an amazing time but a weird side quirk developed for us. Time seems to have sped up for us greatly. I was thinking I was alone in feeling this way but recently one of my closest friends asked me if I noticed how time sped up ever since we did so much shrooms. We've come to the conclusion that somehow we've completely sped up our existance. It feels like a day passes by in about four hours for me now and it feels like it's been a month since the shroom binge when in reality it was in early December.

Anyone have any thoughts? I don't really have a problem with this, I'm just wondering if anyone else has encountered this.

I'm serious by the way.

!  We'll I've noticed that time can be sped up and slowed down like crazy on shrooms, but I've never gone on a shroom binge like you.  And this 4 hour day thing sounds cRaZy!!

Just take a break from drugs for a while and see what happens. :crazy2:

Haha... well honesty aside from occasionally smoking weed I've been straight edge for about two months and haven't done shrooms since December. It's really strange that this is going on. It feels like it's a side effect from the shrooms or were in some way caused by them but I have no idea.

I know Terrance McKenna has theories about shrooms and time but I'm not familiar with his work.

shrooms distort your senses so i imagine that it's possible to take too much and end up with some kind of brain-damaged sense of time.

So, how do you interact with normal society?
If you really experienced time like that, then you would have much trouble relating with other people. So your saying that not one day since your shroom binge has seemed more than four hours long?

And also, how long did this binge go on for? Were they fresh shrooms?
Why would you eat so much? Why disrespect the mushroom so?

Coming to a conclusion is itself writing in stone. Think about that one. People also multiply the gullibility factor.

All I can say is good luck, I hope you can live your life with only the small window of four hours. Sure you are not exaggerating?

Try a television experiment. Watch TV as soon as you wake, after thirty minutes make a note of the show changing. Keep on watching all day, if time passes like you say, you should have no trouble. Then count up the number of times the show changed, compare this with the reality of how time seemed to pass.

that truely does sound unbelievable! at what point in a day do you stop and think 'this day has only needed like a few hours?' i think it's possible that the 'damage' may lie with your memory; time itself isn't speeding up but your recollection of events has been condensed/altered in some way that makes it seem shorter.

i don't know, this sounds very strange to me.

Yea, four hours seems very unreasonable, but if that's the case, you should be able to do menial, repetative tasks for hours on end without it bothering you that much. Maybe you should look into factory work. A 2 hour day for you will get some good overtime.

After experiencing time going so slow for so long, like eternity - now normal time seems to you going by with the speed of light?

But since december, thats crazy indeed!

If you're sitting on your computer from sun-up to sun-down then of course time is going to seem like it's going fast.

Get a hobby, get a job, occupy yourself.

I guarantee you won't be feeling those 4 hour days after you've been working your ass off for 8.

I've always felt like tripping is a part of your life condensed and intensified.

Perhaps you have a kind of HPPD that affects your sense of time. Do you also have perma-visuals?

Everytime i trip it seems like the trip lasts for like an hour or two, when really 4-5 hours have passed. Very strange indeed.
