San Pedro...is this one? (PICS ADDED!!!!!)

EDIT : pics added
The baby...a button taken off and put into a pot for me by my grandmother...
The base...
Close up...
Close up...
Flowering areas...
Full frontal cacti porn...
----------------------------------------------------------------
I'll post pics at a later time, this is growing in my grandmother's yard in Arizona.
it has 7 "ribs" on each branch
it has spines about every inch or two, and the spines are TINY, as in about 1/4" long. They are very dark brown or black.
The cactus is HUGE, it grew from a small little thing over 15 years to a HUGE cactus, with 12-18 branches going all different directions. It looks like a bush of sorts, until you look at it's base and see it's 1-2 foot "trunk" near the ground that the arms all grow out of.
It has flowers just like this my grandmother says
http://www.cactusweb.us/pedro_bloom10.jpg
http://www.bouncingbearbotanicals.com/images/pedro_flower.jpg
I showed her those pics, she said "Yeah...that looks exactly like it's flowers...they open almost like a hand, and only at night."
It's coloring is medium-dark green, and a couple of the arms that are more exposed to direct sunlight are a bit bluish-green.
From seeing those pics, I'm inclined to think it's pedro, but I'm not sure how many cacti have flowers like that. Are they unique to San Pedro?

There is a genus called Cereus which has the same flowers, they have noticably different rib and spine structures and also growth habits. San Pedro usually branches from the base rather than forming a trunk which would lead me to suspect your plant is of the genus Cereus.

I guess I was not clear. Yeah, it all branches from the base. The branches all grow from the base. There is no trunk as I thought before. I just re-looked. There is a maybe 2-3 foot diameter "base" with all the arms coming up out of it. A couple go almost vertical, while the others grow outwards. It's probably got a 9 foot arm-span, and its tallest arm is probably 11' high. Some of the arms look almost like they are coming out of the ground, but are actually coming from the base. They grow horizontal maybe 6 inches then arc upwards.

Also look up the common look alikes... stenocereus, stetsonia (coryne), cereus peruvianus is a common one and to a lesser extent, myrtilocactus
Ebay usually has some good closeups.
...I forget exactly who to give credit to this beauty (I'm gonna start labeling my saved files better, I swear)

The easiest way to differentiate between various columnar Cereus species and Trichocereus/Echinopsis pachanoi is by rib width. Even at its most dehydated, T/E. pachanoi's ribs are wider. The center area on Cereus plants is tiny.

Those look a LOT like these, except this one's arms grow out a bit broader. I think maybe that's just something to do with the angle the sun hits it? Some go basically straight up, but some go out a bit almost vertical.

Thoses pictures were taken by Owen__ at Nan?s nook. Its the roof of The Getty museum in L.A.
If its similar to that one, 90% chance its either a trichocereus, or cereus... get us a picture... I hate playing the cactus guessing game, its hard to describe the features you need to look for :p

I don't think it's a san pedro personally. Most likely a Cereus?

Yeah it was like I said in my first post, a Cereus. It also has a trunk like you described originally, none of the offshoots are basal (coming from the ground) they are shooting out of the trunk which would thicken with age.

How do you pronounce "Cereus", with a K or S at the front?
