i'm new myself, but i've heard between three months and a year quoted here. I think it was from PF where i read keep syringes in a "cool dark place", but not in the refridgerator... hope this helps. if anyone else has better info, feel free to correct me.

The refrigerator is the best place to store a syringe you won't be using for an extended period of time. Use within six months. It can work after that, though I've noticed a significantly slower rate of germination with syringes older than six months.

> The refrigerator is the best place to store a syringe Exactly. I inoculated a few cakes with a 2 years old syringe some time ago, they are fruiting right now.

>they are fruiting right now. This is one of the cakes. It is a Mathias Romero strain from Smart Botanics.

anno, question about picking. are these shrooms you let go all the way to maturity for spore prints? if not, how come you've let the caps spread all the way out. am I wrong that normally one doesn't let them go that far. I'm just asking cause i've never actually seen a cake fruit, so i'm gonna want to know when i do see one. thanks!
